It's been a long time since we've been camping, and I missed it so much. We generally like to camp at State Parks because we tent camp, and the State Parks always have clean bathrooms and showers. I long to be far away from the city so I can cook over camp fires and gaze at the stars in the dark sky, but I also like the convenience of hot showers after a long day outdoors. This time is was Collier-Seminole State Park because it is only 2 hours away, and surprisingly, they had availability on short-notice. We got lucky. There was birdsong all around us, and though the weather was wetter than we would have liked, it never kept us from making and enjoying smores and hot cocoa on the fire. I woke up on Monday feeling restored and ready to face the work week. If you've never camped, or it's been a long time since you did, you should definitely try to go soon, while the weather is cool and the bugs are not as active.
